Today, Asfendiyarov Kazakh National Medical University (KazNMU) is the largest medical university in the country, which trains specialists at all levels of higher and postgraduate education in all areas of health care.

The overall number of students in 2021 makes up 11 485 students, including 1 633 foreign students from 21 countries all over the world.
The activities of KazNMU are based on the integration and fostering of research activities, clinical practice and the educational process, which corresponds to the basic principle of a unified academic health care environment, providing for a combination of academic, research and clinical activities in order to provide high-quality and modern medical care to the population and training professional staff.
