The first part of the masterclass “Advanced Qualitative research methodology” was held on June 13-17, 2022 in Lithuania, Kaunas.
Academic staff, master and PhD doctoral students in the specialty “Nursing Science” took part in this master class. The total number of participants was 22.
Organizers: Lithuanian University of Health Sciences (Lithuania), Nazarbayev University School of Medicine, South Kazakhstan Medical Academy.
The following topics were included in the program of the 5-day master class:
Application of qualitative research: rationale, research problem and research questions;
Sampling strategies in qualitative research;
Phenomenological research;
Case study;
Grounded theory research;
Content analysis;
Ethnographic research;
Historical research;
Ethical issues and data management in qualitative research;
Reporting of qualitative data and academic writing;
Publishing of research article.
During the training, participants performed assignments in small groups. One of the tasks was to conduct a historical study of the museums of Kaunas. The participants coped with this task successfully; each subgroup performed and showed their vision of conducting historical research. The creative approach of the participants is especially noted.
The participants were given instructions on completing the final task, as well as the results of the first part of the training with the issuance of certificates.
