JAMK University of Applied Sciences is an internationally oriented higher education institution established in 1992. JAMK has 8500 students and ca. 700 employees providing Bachelor and Masters’ programmes and a wide range of professional development and continuing education programmes. JAMK has passed the international audit of the Finnish Education Evaluation Council (FINEEC). JAMK’s annual turnover is approximately 62 MEUR.
The University has four educational schools and an administrative unit. The schools of JAMK are the School of Health and Social Studies, the School of Business, the School of Technology, and the School of Professional Teacher Education.
JAMK School of Health and Social Studies (SHSS) is a versatile and highly respected education provider for the health, welfare, and cultural sectors as well as a sought-after development partner for businesses and organizations in the field. It has significant proficiency in nursing and physiotherapy education. SHSS has 60 years’ experience of education; developing professionals and expertise in health and wellbeing. Nursing education at SHSS has been available in English for approximately 20 years. The School of Health and Social Studies has around 150 employees and 2030 students, from which approx. 130 are international degree students.

Merja Kalima
JAMK AccelEd Project Manager, leader of WP3 Quality Assurance and Monitoring as well as part of the JAMK Management Support Team, member of WP4 Dissemination
MA (English), Recently acted as the administrative Project Manager in the Erasmus+ CBHE project ProInCa during 2017-2021. She also has experience in administrative tasks in higher education and global education services. Her key qualifications are English, international project management, and global education support services.
Johanna Heikkilä
Project coordinator, Scientific Manager, Leader of WP2.3, member of WPs 1 and 3-5
PhD in Health Sciences, Senior Advisor at JAMK, RN . She has acted as team leader in the World Bank project in Kazakhstan “Modernization of education for nurses” 2017-2020 and project coordinator and scientific manager of ProInCa, and her first contacts and visits to Kazakhstan have been in 2012. In Kazakhstan she has been also academic director of two jointly implemented Master programmes with 39 graduates. Her research area is nurses advanced roles and development of primary healthcare with service design approach. In addition, she has coordinated large (EUR 1,4 M) multi-university innovation projects in Finland and has published several research articles and tutored plentiful bachelor and master theses.
Hanna Hopia
Researcher in WPs 2.1, 2.3, 2.4
PhD in Nursing science, Docent at the University of Eastern Finlan, Principal Lecturer in Nursing, RN. She has worked as an expert in the World Bank project in Kazakhstan “Modernization of education for nurses” 2017-2020 and as a researcher in the ProInCa Erasmus+ project. She has also worked as a board member in a national Nursing Research Foundation, which produces clinical guidelines for the Finnish healthcare system. She has published actively numerous of international academic articles in the field of nursing science, covering the areas of nursing education and gamification in healthcare.
Tuula Härkönen
Project administrative worker, Project Secretary
MBA. Her expertise area is financial administration in Erasmus+ projects. She works in the AccelEd project as an administrative staff member and her areas of responsibility include financial management, administration, financial reporting, and supporting tasks for the JAMK team.
Kare Norvapalo
Research and Development Manager, Member of Academic-Advisory Board
D.Sc. (Econ. & Bus.Adm.), M.Sc. (Sport and Health Sciences). He has over 15 years of experience from the work of manager. His main task is to ensure that the university’s strategy, goals, and international competitiveness will be achieved on a yearly basis. Main areas of work also include national and international collaboration with JAMK’s partners.
