Today, the Astana Medical University hosted a conference “Healthcare of Kazakhstan – 30 years of independence: results, challenges and prospects” with the participation of Deputy Prime Minister Yeraly Tugzhanov, Minister of Health Aleksey Tsoi, Vice Ministers of Health Yerlan Kiyasov, Azhar Giniyat and representatives of other medical organizations. The event was aimed at discussing the current state of the healthcare sector and medical education in the country, as well as plans for the coming years.
Vice minister A. Giniyat spoke on the current state of medical education and plans for improvement. She separately voiced positive changes in the development of nursing, based on the experience of Finnish and other European partners: the introduction of an applied bachelor’s degree (3 years 6 months), an accelerated training program (1 year 6 months), Pre-PhD and PhD programs in nursing science , introduction of the position of “extended practice nurse” who can make diagnoses at her level, as well as “Nursing coordinator in health departments”. All this should contribute to the improvement of nursing service and the development of nursing science and research activities.
